The PRIDE Youth Team of the year award is given to an Americas PRIDE Team that has demonstrated outstanding drug prevention efforts in their community during the previous year. The team of the year is selected based on achievements and efforts to implement programming in each of the four categories of PRIDE activities: Community Service, Community Outreach, Drug Education and Drug-Free activities. The team we are honoring this year has achieved excellence in all four areas.
Tawas PRIDE, our 2004 team of the year isnt just a performance team, although they are a very creative and talented group of young people. Their commitment to substance abuse prevention goes over and above the unique programming they developed to incorporate their peers interest in television and media with drug education and positive life skills. This is a team that has taken community outreach to a whole new level. Their community membership drive is one of the most successful of any PRIDE organization. They host blood drives and fundraisers, visit local nursing homes, and actively mentor their Club PRIDE team.
How dedicated is this team to what they do? So dedicated that every Wednesday, even in the summer, you will find them practicing at 6:00 a.m. to prepare for their next performance, fundraiser or community outreach event. We are thrilled to honor Tawas PRIDE as the 2004 PRIDE Youth Programs Team of the Year. Their tireless commitment to their community has given them the reputation as the group to call when help is needed. Tawas PRIDE leaves an impact, not only on those in their community but also on its team members, past and present. This year, team alumni joined together to form a scholarship fund for graduating seniors.
PRIDE Youth Programs is honored to have Tawas PRIDE as this year's team of the year!
